Lewis is robbed of his win by cheating Italians

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:48 PM GMT [General]

Because Lewis Hamilton was racing on the same track as the Ferraris ,and won, he has been given a 25 second penalty, which demotes him to third place. It is rumoured that for the final races of the season the Ferraris will be given 1st and 2nd without having to race and the rest of the field will be left to race for the remainder of the places. This will ensure that the cheating Italians win once again without the expense of attending the events. This is becoming a farce.

    Party!

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 12:47 PM EST [General]

Today just happens to be my husband Jeff's 30th birthday and I just wanted to drop in here and let everybody know. Instead of having a physical birthday party for him, I decided to give my husband a cyber-party, because all of his gifts are on the computer anyway.

If you are stopping by, please visit my husband Jeff's Multiply page: http://hermeticpriest.multiply.com and wish him a Happy Birthday! Or, since Jeff reads my blogs almost every day (and I'll make sure that Jeff reads this one), you can always leave Jeff a birthday message here for him to read.

The party for Jeff is here on my page - I hope you all enjoy it. By the way, my half-sister Ramona baked the cake - please have some and help my husband and I celebrate his birthday!

    Indian Hacker 'Shakes' Crime World

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:42 PM GMT [General]

    The Incident

“A Sunday Herald investigation has discovered that late on Thursday night, a previously unknown Indian hacker successfully breached the IT defences of the Best Western Hotel group’s online booking system and sold details of how to access it through an underground network operated by the Russian mafia.” reported The Sunday Herald from Scotland.

The 'venerable' Scottish newspaper, went on to quote a security expert, Jacques Erasmus, an ex-hacker who now works for the computer security firm Prevx. Erasmus declared, “The Russian gangs who specialise in this kind of work will have been exploiting the information from the moment it became available late on Thursday night. In the wrong hands, there’s enough data there to spark a major European crime wave.”

The Sunday Herald had no hesitation in saying that the “nature of internet crime makes it extremely difficult to track the precise details of the raid, the Sunday Herald understands that a hacker from India - new to the world of cyber-crime - succeeded in bypassing the system’s security software.”

    Indian Media

India’s premier business newspaper The Economic Times featured this story prominently in their print edition. The Times of India, which says it the largest English newspaper, dutifully carried this IANS report. The challenger to Times Of India, DNA also carried this report. Looking at these reports just a little deeper, and the source of all these reports is a IANS (India Abroad News Service) report.

Indian bloggers went to town with this story. Piyush Sood wrote about this story. As did, Battakiran.

    Foreign Media

Washington Post had nothing to say on this. Similarly, a search on New York Times site turned up empty. All quiet on the The Wall Street Journal site. A search using Google.com turned up many Indian newspapers with this news report.

Hot Hardware site did question this report with some balance. Another blogger, Limau Orange, was another who questioned this report.

The Telegraph was one of the few 'foreign' newspapers to carry this story.

    The Rebuttal

David Clarke, CEO, of Best Western whose data was purportedly stolen, immediately, responded, “After a detailed investigation we can confirm that on 21st August a single hotel in Germany was compromised by a virus. The compromise permitted access to reservations data for that property only. This has affected only ten customers who we are currently being contacted to offer our assistance, none of these were GB customers. There is no evidence of any unauthorized access to any other customer data.”

    Unanswered Questions

Not one Indian newspaper, published (later or then) any questions or rebuttal of this pathetic story. What got me wondering was the motivation of this story? How did this story land up in IANS agency? Where did the ‘original’ writer, Mons. Iain S Bruce, get to know that an Indian was behind this ‘heist.’ Who was behind this ‘leak’ to Bro.Iain S Bruce? What are the ’sources’ of Shri Iain S Bruce?

    I am waiting.

In the meantime, I believe that this was a dry run - of some some stupid theory! Which got proved. Shame on you, Indian media.

    A royal visit

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:39 PM GMT [Family]

We are off to Buckingham Palace, three generations of us plus a friend for each child.  We are sure the Queen must be as excited about our visit as we are.  At dank dawn we board the train, blinking at the earliness but London, the city which never sleeps, is buzzing already.  What are all these people doing, up at this ungodly hour?

As we near Buckingham Palace the pavements fill.  Cloaked staff greet us and we proceed through airport style security, incongruous amid all the talk of busbies and beefeaters, yeomen and halberds.  We watch the guards in their sentry boxes.  Just as we suspect they are cardboard cut outs, one stamps and marches ponderously.  "They must have English guns, not Uzis," remarks Youngest, secretly hoping he will have reason to see one at close quarters.

Despite the depressing state of Britain today, with its knife wielding hoodies, clogged roads and graffiti strewn concrete, we do royalty well.  We can be proud of our pomp, chuffed with our palaces and well pleased with our ceremonials.  Surely the most cynical visitor must be awed by the scale and lavish decoration of the high ceilinged state rooms.  We overdose on gilt, brocade, artworks and inlay.  We imagine ourselves consorting with dignitaries, nodding to fellow banqueters and greeting ambassadors.  Superlatives abound.  Children forget to be bored, tourists' jaws drop.  We gaze at blank windows, hoping for a glimpse of Her Madge.

For a moment we forget English self-deprecation and feel really proud.  Other countries may have Heads of State or even royals who ride bikes, but we have the best Queen in the world.  "It's cool," conclude the kids.  Tempted by a crown shaped velour dog bed or some Buck Pal bubble bath, we return to the bustle of London, lost in our thoughts.  "When I come back, it will be through the main door," decides one of the kids.  "Please invite me!" I add, not wanting to tarnish their dream.

I sure was busy last month. I bowled several times in a tournament. Unfortunately I lost 1st place twice. I'll settle with 2nd. I met Billy Oatman face to face and even had the opportunity to bowl against him. Thanks to some very good pointers, the next day I bowled a 269. My all time best. Thanks again Billy

    Why Not?

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:37 PM GMT [General]

I suspect some of you are a bit short of cash and regret the fact that you can no longer do your Continental weekend stints on Ryanair.

Well I have an idea. This coming week we will commence the harvesting of Champagne grapes. Everything is hand harvested with a pair of secateurs. There are 33, 000 hectares (55,000 acres) to be harvested and it will take 100,000 casual labourers to do the job over the coming weeks. This is no industrial activity, the vineyards are mostly quite small so there is a friendly family atmosphere and a few glasses  thrown in, in the evening. The views from  the height of le mont de Rheims where much of the vineyard is situated,  are splendid. So why not give it a go ? You know, with Gordon in charge you  are going to have to work your way out of the mess and this is probably as pleasant a way as any.

We are expecting a good year with moderate volumes. After some early mildew the summer has been dry  and the grapes are in good condition with satisfactory levels of sugar and acidity. Hopefully you are already  well stocked up on the 2005, but make some room for 2008 , it will be good.

What is to be done now that the British state is bankrupt?

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:34 PM GMT [General]

I agree with Alistair Darling's view expressed in last week's Guardian interview that the UK economy will soon be in the most serious position for some sixty years.   Since that interview, the OECD has announced that the last two quarters of 2008 will see the UK in recession.

The economic outlook is a toxic mixture of the following:

The UK banks cannot raise enough capital and credit to continue with existing lending.  They will be forced to reduce lending to business and personal customers and therefore will call in more and more loans, overdrafts, credit card balances and will have to refuse to extend many mortgages.

Customers will lack the means to repay the capital outstanding and/or service the debt and will default.  The banks will then make further losses and have to reduce their lending, and then a vicious circle chips in on the basis that each £1 of lost capital requires circa £10 reduction in lending.

The appalling results of the above events are that tax revenues and employment are falling sharply, while government spending is increasing to cover higher social benefits.

At the same time, higher prices for food and energy are damaging household finances and living standards, and are bringing higher inflation.

The obvious policy response would be for the Bank of England to cut interest rates sharply, but they are already pretty low and inflation is over target.

The response by the market will be to lower the value of sterling (this causes higher inflation, although exports will get a boost) and for business to lay off workers as demand in the UK will reduce in the recession.

In the 10 years to 2007, Gordon Brown as Chancellor promised us that he had achieved an end to boom and bust.

In fact Labour were presiding over a boom of historic proportions, fuelled by a huge expansion of credit and cheap world prices.

Both of these dangerous illusory props are gone, and both Government and consumer are now faced with some impossible bills to pay.

The is a real possibility that the British state is staring bankruptcy in the face and will have to default on a number of its obligations (servicing the civil service pension commitments, liabilities under PFI deals and so on).

The British state is already seen by many English as morally bankrupt.  It has been cruel and vicious in its trashing of England, her democracy and her great people.

Now the incompetence and greed of the British political elites have led our once vibrant economy to recession and the British state to near financial bankruptcy.

So what is to be done?

It is time for the English to take power into their own hands, to revive a sovereign English Parliament and to make England once more an independent nation state.

The new English government will have much work to do, but at least we know that it will be English, that it will be honest and will be more competent than the present corrupt British elites who have made Britain morally and financially bankrupt.

    MP's gunpoint Coffee Mate ordeal

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 05:30 PM GMT [General]

David Cameron refuses to answer questions about his past and drugs, so is it any wonder his colleages are tainted by association lolol! Today I read that

Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant was on a trekking holiday to South America last week when, he said, he was held by armed soldiers who searched his bags.

He said one pulled out the unmarked jar of Coffee Mate and accused him of smuggling raw cocaine.

Lollol, it seems Fabricant is a hair today and gone tomorrow sort of chap, perhaps the Colombians have shown the right way to deal with these Tories, certainly we should offer these soldiers some acclaim for being as efficient as they obviously are and detaining undesirables :->

    NO HELP FROM JESSICA!!!

Sunday, September 7, 2008, 12:29 PM EST [General]

The Cleveland Browns home open today against Tony Romo and the Dallas cowboys, but no Jessica Simpson at the game. Romo tends to have bad games when girlfriend Jessica Simpson is in the house. Instead she is in Nashville for the Grand Ole' Opry. What's more important being in Nashville or supporting your man? I think Jessica Simpson has her priorities all screwed up...at least for this week.
